Wholesale Clubs – Really a Good Bargain?

It seems like wholesale clubs are becoming a common venue in most areas. Can these wholesale clubs really offer you wholesale prices or are they just retailers in disguise?
In my opinion, there are plenty of great bargains found in wholesale clubs if you look for the right items. However, you should keep in mind that these wholesale clubs are brick and morter stores complete with stock clerks and customer service people. They have the same overhead as discount retailers.
It’s true that they charge yearly membership fee’s and so are able to defray the overhead costs. But are these fee’s enough to allow wholesale warehouse clubs to bring you true wholesale prices? I for one was skeptical.
Making a Comparison
When comparing oranges to oranges with their retail discount store counterparts, I found that in most cases wholesale clubs were able to beat the retailers in price. The difference however was not as much as I’d hoped.
That’s when I decided to dig deeper and see if I could find an alternative to the wholesale warehouse clubs that would be practical enough for anyone to use.
Practical Alternative
The Practical alternative I found was the Salehoo Wholesale Directory. They provided me with a list of wholesalers that were willing to accept orders of 1 item. This list is Internet based so I can access it from my computer, get prices to compare and then do my comparison shopping. I often fare very well with my savings.
